Happy weekend! And what you cannot see is me jumping up and down, celebrating like it's 1999, ha! Today, I am linking up with Kacey over at Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five For Friday linky party. Here is a recap of the last couple of weeks.
My last week of vacation, our family spent up some time at a local lake with five other families. We rent a really large house and the adults are outnumbered by the kids. It is so much fun! We have been doing this for years, but the last two year we have had no snow because of the drought in California. Well, that changed and the kids had so much fun playing in the snow.
The rain has come. I live in California. We need it! But, rain all day, every day the first few days back from winter break is crazy. Go Noodle was my best friend. I love the indoor recess sets, and my kids especially love the 15 minute Koo Koo Kangaroo one. Our grade level recently upgraded to Go Noodle Plus and I love it. I can incorporate math and reading, along with movement.
I test my kids on their sight words every Thursday. You can read more about my sight word program here. Some of them find the most unique ways to practice their reading. They squish into the smallest places.
We started learning about the word adaptations this week. We will be looking at various polar animals and comparing adaptions they have. I love this time of the year. Kids dig this stuff!
Yes, this is my drawing. I am not an artist! But we did sort and learn which animals animal live in the Arctic and Antarctic. I know that seals and orcas do not live in the equator. That is the "both" category. This activity helped them to complete the polar animal sort in their interactive notebook.
Since we learned about the Arctic and Antarctica earlier in the week, today we began our focus on the polar bear. We will be learning about adaptations the polar bear has to survive in its habitat next week. Today we made a cute polar bear art piece to hang up. I found the directions here. They turned out so cute!
Have a great weekend!
