We started learning about digraphs this week, well more specifically the th sound. I love it when we get to this point of the year. Once young readers get the concept of combing two letters to make a new sound, it really opens up their reading world.
We've been working on sorting according to the th sound in the beginning of the word or the end of the word. First we practiced as a class.
After some class practice, I added a th tub in my word work area. The kids love practicing with the paint sticks. Once they sorted with the paint sticks, they completed the cut and past practice page.
I also like to use the H brothers poem that is all over Pinterest. If you don't know it, just search H brothers poem. And then there is this anchor chart all over Pinterest, but I can't find the direct source.
I love this, but let's be honest. It's Halloween week, a full moon, the 50th Day and prepping for parent conferences. I don't have time to make a cute anchor chart this week #teachertruths! So, maybe next week?
If you are interested in the digraph pack, click below. There are sorts, sound posters and no prep printables.
There you have it. I hope you have a great rest of your week!
