And it's raining, for California that is a good thing.
Today, I am linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five For Friday. Here are some highlights from my week.
We did the turkey in disguise project this week after reading Turkey Trouble.
I sent home the turkeys over the weekend and told parents to feel free to help them. They turned out great.
More importantly the writing that they did to go with this was great. They had to write from the point of view of the turkey and convince me that they were NOT a turkey. I took pictures of their turkeys and color copied them so I could place them into a class book. They loved it!
We had a visit from the plastic bag monster this week. This was great because we started the year learning about recycling and reducing. The plastic bag monster was there to help promote our fundraiser selling reusable bags. We have a local company in town that makes reusable bags called Chico Bag.
My mom turned 70 this week. We had a surprise dinner party for her at a local restaurant and she loved it. She was surprised and so happy. It was fun to see the focus on her.
On Friday I pulled out my Christmas stuff to begin prepping for after vacation. I might have even played Christmas music (gasp! before Thanksgiving) to help get me into the mood. I prepped some fun new items that will be listed soon!
Finally, this is not teaching related but helpful to those who like to plan and be ahead of the game for Christmas. There is a website call Organized Christmas that has six weeks of checklists that help keep you on track for the holidays. I love it! This is my third year using it and I always feel so relieved to have the bulk of my Christmas tasks done by the first week of December.
