I have been reading teaching blogs for a while and have learned from and discovered many great teachers. I don't know about you, but I love discovering a fun new blog, so I thought I would start a weekly teacher feature. Hopefully you will discover some great new teachers and blogs as well! My disclaimer is that life happens, so sometimes a Friday may get missed. Enjoy!
So this week's teacher feature is a 2nd grade teacher named Jessica Tobin from The Second Grade Nest. I discovered Jessica's blog a couple of weeks ago when I participated in a giveaway of heres. Here are some things that I learned about Jessica:
How long have you been teaching?
What do you like most about teaching?
The constant entertainment of having conversations with eight year olds. They are always saying things that I would never think to say.
What has been most challenging for you as a teacher?
The hardest thing is adapting to the mindset of assessment-geared teaching. I wish that we didn't have to, but with MAP tests, district assessments, and state standardized tests, I feel that we are constantly teaching kids how to test and not how to learn!
What do you like to do for fun when you are not teaching?
Two things come to mind- reading on my Kindle Fire and creating products for my Teachers Pay Teachers store and blog.
What is your favorite children's book?
What a hard choice! Currently- Skippyjon Jones!
Share a random fact about you.
I have a passion for Michael Jackson and painting. Not necessarily together... although I have painted a picture of Michael Jackson.
I love it! It is so fun to learn about others. Jessica has some great products in her TPT store.
Thanks Jessica for letting me feature you!
Tomorrow I will post the winners of my MEGA giveaway! Thanks to all who donated and participated.
