Surfin' Into Summer

Happy Monday Friends!  I hope all of you mommies had a great day yesterday.  I was spoiled by my husband and son.  I even got to watch a mommy movie all by myself.  I have not officially started the end of the year countdown with my kids, but I know...18 days.  I am wrapping up my rainforest tub work even though we will continue with rainforest for the rest of the year.  I will change them up to my new math stations...Surfin' Into Summer.  All of the activities will be a great review for my kiddos.

Some of the activities included are:

Flip Flip Facts (commutative property)

Tic Tac Beach

Beach Ball Measuring (non-standard)

Fact Family Practice

Tally Practice

Find, Tally and Graph

So there you have it!  I made this math pack selfishly so I could prepare ME for some beach time.  I know the kids will enjoy it even though we aren't learning about the ocean/beach.

I thought I would end with a funny first grade story.  My kids have had so tattling issue lately, so I read this book:
In this book, they say M.Y.O.B (Mind Your Own Beeswax).  Well, two of my kiddos were squabbling about something and I hear the girl yells, B.Y.O.B.  I had to stop myself from laughing.  The boy hd no clue but made sure to correct her, which resulted in another argument. Oh, first graders, you put a smile on my face everyday.

Five For Friday

Can I get a woohoo?  It's the weekend, AND I am down to the teens as far as school goes (19 days to be exact).  Here is what happened in my crazy week:

1.  Drove to Lake Tahoe (3 hours away) Monday after school for a work function my husband won.  I took Tuesday off, but still a crazy fast trip for one night.  It snowed and I won some money, woohoo!

2.  I also took Wednesday off so I could get pampered by my preschool son.  What do you think?  Should he work at a nail salon?

3.  I worked Thursday and we made our cute mother's day portraits.  They used scrapbook paper and construction paper for their mom and I showed them how to use chalk for the face.  They used tissue to rub in the chalk for rosy cheeks.

And last, I had to share this one because it just made me smile. The thing is, that this look's like this child's mom.  Notice the highlighted hair and the blue eyeshadow.  This child knows their mom!

4.  Our school puts on a Faculty Follies each year for the families.  It's at a real theatre and we have fun.  I just love the staff I work with!  Here is a picture of stage before the action began.

5.  Finally, pick up your freebies for teacher appreciation week at the Teaching Blog Roundup.

Summer Bucket List and a Sale!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  I hope you have had a fabulous weekend.  We sure have.  Now it is Sunday night and I am trying to wrap my brain around everything that needs to get done in the next 24 school days.  While trying to wrap my brain around that, I procrastinated and made up our summer bucket list.  Why not?  I need to prepare for summer.  I have done a bucket list the past two years and we have really had fun with it.  Here is ours:
I have this printed as a 16 X 20 poster at Costco and hang it up in our house.  My husband works during the summer, but my son and I love to check things off our summer bucket list.  Now it is hard to read on here and may look long, but many of these are simple.  For example:

bake cookies
swim
go on a bike ride
play with legos
and many more!

Do you make a summer bucket list?  What items are on your list?

Well speaking of lists, do you have a wishlist started at TPT?  If you do, the time to shop will be May 7th & 8th for the Teacher Appreciation Sale!  Get up to 28% many items.

Five for Friday

I am so excited to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for my first Five for Friday.

Here are five random things about my week.

1.  I got to spend a day with my little guy and his preschool at the fire station.  It was so cute watching him play with his friends.

2.  We finished up our school-wide post office this week.  I am happy to be done with that and moving onto our rainforest unit.

3.  It was our staff appreciation week at school and I am feeling very lucky to have the group of parents I have.

4.  We started our rainforest unit, yay!  I love this unit.  I have some fun things planned, but here is our schema chart.

5.  Lastly, I finished up another Cut, Do and Glue math pack.  It's a baseball theme.  My little sports fanatics will love it.

Do you want to know the best thing of all is?  It's the weekend! Make it a great one.
